For me, painting is a way to appreciate and understand the world around me, be it manmade, natural or abstract. I am a third generation painter, born into a family of artists so I have been surrounded by creativity my whole life. I have a deep love for the city having been a huge architecture nerd as a kid. Raised outside of Philadelphia I spent many weekends walking around the city exploring. Looking up at the great old architecture of Philly gave me a sense of hope and calm. The combination of the different kinds of people, buildings, color and patterns fascinates me. I love color, perspective and exploring different ways to create spaces. I studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, Art Students League of New York and have a BFA from Rhode Island School of Design. My mother, uncle and grandfather also all attended the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts so I was lucky enough to learn about making art in the same spaces as them. I live in Queens, New York City where I spend most of my time painting it up.
